A new bid is being considered by the owners of Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre after a first offer made by its employees was turned down on Monday.
Parent company Jupiter Hotels put the centre up for sale three weeks ago, but staff at the centre decided to take matters into their own hands and put in a bid themselves.
But they will now be forced to wait an extra couple of weeks after submitting a new and revised bid.
As word of the bid has spread, support from within Gloucestershire has grown, with more than 5,000 county residents having visited the group's Back Our Bid Facebook page. A post from Dursley resident Shirley Hill typifies the public's response to the bid.
She wrote: "Wishing you every success in your bid for the Gloucester Ski Centre, an excellent facility for Gloucestershire."
Support has also come from all over Europe, with skiers in Switzerland and France posting photographs of themselves holding posters designed by the Back Our Bid team.
Visitors to the social networking site were also asked to suggest improvements they would like to see made at the slope and the centre's management has already met to discuss some that have already been posted.
Plans for the first few weeks, if the bid is successful, include purchasing new ski and snowboarding equipment and getting backup pumps for the watering system to ensure the slopes run well even on the hottest summer days.
The team also feels there is a great opportunity to turn the site into a multi-activity centre, combining traditional skiing and snowboarding with grass sledging, tobogganing and even husky dog sleigh rides from local provider Arctic Quest.
Maintenance manager Simon Purchase said: "We are bursting with so many ideas to make the centre a major attraction for the area and all hope Jupiter Hotels will accept our offer so we can get started."
The centre, which has one of the UK's longest artificial dry ski slopes, employs 51 people. We hope who ever takes over the dry slopes the best of luck.
