Sheffield Ski Village building has been destroyed in a fire, which broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called to the centre just before 1am to fight the fire.
The main building which consisted of the shop, boot room, reception and the bowling area where affected the worst.
A 200m corden has remained in place around the centre untill fire fighters where happy that everything was undercontrol.
Vicky Lloyd, general manager at the Ski Village, said, “We are absolutely upset. The business has been running very well and we were due to be nearly full today with children's parties. For us this is very difficult time."
The Ski Village is the home slope of a number of top UK skiers and snowboarders including James Woods and Katie Summerhayes.
Katie Summerhayes said she was “so sad about the Sheffield Ski Village, the freestyle scene was amazing up there – so many good memories as well, a very very sad day”.
An investigation has been launched in to the cause of the fire. We will keep you updated on any other news concerning the above.
