I am so very excited as I have been selected as a Torch bearer for the 2012 London Olympics!
I have been asked in June to carry the torch. I am carrying it through a town called Castletown, which is only few minutes drive from where I grew up. I received an email a couple of weeks ago but was unable to say anything till now. It quite hard keeping a secret.
As a winter snowboard athlete I don’t get chance to do many things related to my sport or the Summer Olympics at home, so I am excited to be one of the few lucky torchbearers.
I’m even more excited that I get to carry it so close to my home through the streets I remember walking down as a child. In fact I was walking down one of them yesterday on the way to the supermarket. The Olympics represents so much about my life and this is a once in a lifetime chance.
One of the amazing things about this is that unlike every other time I’ve been involved with the Olympics, understandably so, I’ve been really nervous. I going to enjoy every minute of the run and carrying the torch.
I can’t wait for the Olympic games to start. I’ll be watching it all on TV and I’ll be cheering on all the British Athletes especially those from my home of Isle of Man
I am looking forward to seeing a local cyclist Mark Cavendish, I really hope he does well and I will be cheering for him!
I am going to enjoy watching the heptathlon and hoping Jessica Ennis wins a medal and hopefully a gold one. I can’t imagine how hard it must be training for seven events.
At the moment I am really enjoying some time off from training and love catching up with friends and family. I am working hard on my new business which will hopefully finance my winter program for next season. It’s a great challenge running your own business while competing as a snowboarder.
I am happy with everything at the moment with a ranking of sixth in the world standings. I am here for another week and then I am back in Leeds for dry land training , but for the moment I am enjoying some time off.
