Find out more about USA and what it has to offer

The USA is very different to Europe, expect a high quality of service, over polite staff, amazing accommodation, fantastic selection of mountain restaurants, après ski with a difference and a snow record to match.

The USA has become a popular destination with the Europeans and the Brits since prices of flights have come down,  though to date (Sept 2012) they have risen, though some still prefer the ease of Europe and being at your accommodation within the same day.

There are a lot of places to choose from when it comes to picking a ski resort, unlike Europe where you can be in a village in the heart of the skiing a lot of the American resorts tend to be at the bottom of the mountain sometimes a drive away from the nearest ski lift.  We recommend hiring a car as resorts can be spread out and its does not take long to ski a mountain.

Resorts are very different to across the pond, ski resorts our more like something out of a western with salon bars and restaurants. You will find everything runs on times, a modern ski lift which most of the time the seats will be full which eliminates any queues.  Also remember the age limit for drinking is 21 in the USA.

As for skiing this is very different to Europe, wide pistes cut through forests, the grading system is also very different with shapes and colours taking over colour code of Europe. Also beware of ski patrols on the lookout for misbehaviour and speeding on the wrong pistes, if caught doing something bad you will more than likely be thrown of the mountain. The great thing about skiing in America is that you will find areas dedicated to off piste, patrolled and often blasted for avalanches

Accommodation varies, you will find the odd catered chalet or even self catered properties, but expect a wide selection of condo style hotels.

Once some skiers have tried America they never look at skiing in Europe again, so give it a try you never know.
