Description:

Chatel ski resort lies in the heart of 650km of pistes which come under the name of Portes du Soleil, making this one of the largest ski areas in Europe.
Chatel neighbours with its Swiss neighbour of Morgin on the French- Swiss border. Chatel can be found at the end of the Abondance Valley around 45km from Lake Geneva.

Skiing in Chatel can be varied, with a mixture of runs to suit any skier or snowboarder. Plenty of off piste can be found especially around  the Linga area known to the locals as the Happy Valley. Here you will find natural half pipes and lips, when the snow is fresh here you can have some of the best skiing or snowboarding of your life.

Avoriaz can be easily accessed  from Chatel , the resort its self is very good for accessing the Portes du Soleil ski area.

Unlike many other ski resorts this mountain village has retained its traditional values and rustic charms, there are still around 40 working farms.

Located between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, the resort benefits from a major weather pattern that result in heavy snowfalls. Furthermore, its slopes are pasture land requiring only 10cm of snow for a decent base compared to 80cm -100cm for higher rockier resorts.

Do not be fooled!

There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from, Chatel itself is a very family friendly resort and you will find plenty to do when not skiing.
