Feldberg Black Forest

The Feldberg is the highest mountain in the Black Forest and Germany

The Feldberg ski resort is situated south-east of Freiburg im Breisgau , surrounded by the communities of Hinterzarten, Titisee, Menzenschwand, Bernau and Todtnau.

Skiing starts at the main peak 1,493m above sea level, from here there is a plateau leading 2km in south-east direction to the peak of Seebuck at 1 448m. From here a deep valley in the northern –eastern direction which contains a glacier lake.

Feldberg is the biggest winter skiing resort in Germany outside the Alps, in 1907 the first original ski lift was built

Around 28 ski lifts see that  are whisked up to start there skiing. The Feldberg peak itself is situated outside of the skiing area. Several slopes around the Feldberg peak and the peak of Herzogenhorn opposite are suitable for cross- country skiing.
