The ski resort of Nendaz sits high above the Rhone Valley overlooking the medieval town of Sion. At a height of 1400m, Nendaz is part of the largest ski area in Switzerland known as the 4 Vallees.
The 4 Vallees is made up of Nendaz, Verbier, Veysonnaz , Thyon and La Tzoumaz.
Known to be one of the sunniest places in the Valley and in Switzerland thanks to its high location. The resort is becoming more popular with the British Market, it was not that long ago it would have been hard to find companies offering catered ski chalet accommodation. Unlike its neighbour Verbier. Below Nendaz sits the old village of Haute Nendaz, with its old farm house and narrow streets.
Today Nendaz is a mix of apartment blocks and individual chalets all south facing and overlooking the valley.
Skiing here and in the 4 Vallees can amazing with lots of motor way runs around the Tortin area. You will find some of the best off piste here also, lots of it being accessible from lifts. If you are looking for some challenging off piste then try behind the Mont Fort and around to the reservoir.
In 1997 Nendaz was awarded a certificate for being family friendly, only 23 resorts in Switzerland have this, you will also find a wide selection of restaurants and bars. Nendaz also boasts an ice rink and a fitness centre.
