Avoriaz is a purpose built ski village designed in the late 60’s. Unlike many other purpose built ski resorts, Avoriaz‘s architecture is in keeping with the bowl it sits in.
Here you will find no concrete buildings, but beautiful wooden cladded apartment blocks that blend into the cliff face. All ski accommodation is ski in/ ski out and no cars to dodge as in this village cars are forbidden.
The streets that can be found in the summer time are pistes in the winter months.
Avoriaz sits at a level of 1800m above sea level and receives a fantastic snow fall due to its geographic position between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc.
Skiing is varied, from green runs through the village to blacks above the village over on the Coupe de Monde side. For those days when the clouds come in, drop down to the Lindaret valley for some tree line skiing. The area is fantastic for skiers or snowboarders seeking fresh powder, from the Fornet Bowl to the Lindaret valley there is tons of the white stuff.
The beauty of the Avoriaz is that it’s right in the centre of the Portes du Soleil ski area which covers a massive 650km of pistes, which make this the largest ski area in Europe. So each day you can discover one of the many ski areas within the Portes Du Soleil.
A fantastic resort for families with small children as the village offers many fun activities on the piste and off the piste to keep your children entertained.
For adults the après ski has some of the best you will find in France with open concerts and fireworks.
